His head tips just enough to meet Mac's gaze. "No."

He nods. "Then we'll lie low for a while, just long enough to show them we're not cut out to be Heroes. And then we'll get out." It sounds simple enough when he says it.
"Meantime, maybe we'll learn something, huh?" He smiles, mostly joking, and nudges Jack with his elbow.

"Pfft, sure." His eyes turn back up to the ceiling. Damn, can't even feel plumbing in this place... " We'll learn something from a bunch of wannabe heroes."

The smile from the joke lingers long after he says it. He turns his head to face forward, eyes picking out a crack in one of the bed frame posts. He focuses on that.
"And if we're not accepted...?"

He frowns, all seriousness in his tone. "In that case, be prepared to raise hell, because we're not staying here." He doesn't keep it up for long though, taking a deep breath and relaxing. " But it'll be fine. I think that woman has to much ambition to leave us here."

The crack extends deep into the post. It's a piece of shit, really, held together with wooden dowels and glue. They'd thought of everything.
"I think you're right." On both accounts.
Mac sighs, resting his forehead on knees drawn up to his chest. "...Was my accent really that bad?" he asks, a little muffled.

"Huh? Heh, no it ah...it just needs a little work is all. I was just mad at the time, I didn't really mean it." He lifts an unsure hand to kind of awkwardly pat Mac's shoulder.

He tilts his head to give Jack a one-eyed squint. "I'll work on it," he says, slowly working himself up to a weak grin.

He returns the smile. " It's a shame, even if you improve that. I don't think that woman will forget about the balls thing." No sir, you're never going to live that one down.

He laughs a bit at that, could blame it on residual brain fuzziness, but he's not going to. "Well. They are pretty memorable."
Mac climbs to his feet and starts heading towards the middle of the room. From where he's sitting, Jack can feel his field start to reach out, trying to penetrate the walls, to get the slightest sense of anything beyond them.

He stays put and watches. Trying after a moment to push his own field out past the walls. There must be...something.

But even with both hands pressed against the far wall, he can't feel a thing. Finally, he gives up with a sigh and presses his forehead to the cold, rough concrete wall. "Fuck," he groans, frustrated.

He gives up when Mac does, there is nothing to be felt. "It'll be alright." He offers. "We won't be here long."

"Mmh." He turns and heads back to one of the beds to sink--literally--into the middle of it. "Ugh. There's gotta be something illegal about this."

He considered getting up to join Mac at the beds but...it didn't look any more comfortable than the floor anyway... "I don't think we're allowed to complain about illegal right now."
