"Much more impressive." Curiosity slipping him past this screen, he stumbles over the tongue-wrapping 'Santiago de Compostela'. "Look at this," he breathes. "All the arches and crossways and...it's amazing. All of this just for the beauty of it."
A thoughtless smile is starting to peek out. "I take back what I said." Sanity catches up with him and he modifies himself. "I take back some of what I said. They can still be barbaric." He smiles at the screen, eyes distant. "But some of them are fascinating."

He leans over to show interest in the screen, he has of course seen these before but they're sill nice to look at. "Of course. Same way some Cybertronians are barbaric." He grins. " And some are fascinating."

A small assenting noise escapes him--mhhm--but he's too distracted by the arches and gateways to fully hear what's being said to him. He files it away for review later.
"Look at these colored windows," he murmurs. "Imagine being inside when their sun is up." He stops on a picture labeled Salzburg, but the cathedral isn't what halts him; it's the mountain range in the back. "What's this? It's so huge."

It takes him a moment. "Oh, the mountain range? That's the Alps." He sounds interested in the mountains the way Mirage was in the cathedrals. "I'm not cleared to travel that far yet. But someday." He says it almost wistfully.

He glances at the mech next to him. There's a distant desire in the scout's optics that is so familiar, so deeply memorable, that Mirage feels a sudden yank of sickness in his gut. Thoughtlessly, he presses a hand to Hound's wrist. "They'll let you. We'll need to explore the terrain eventually."
The contact sends a shock of realization up his arm, and he withdraws, bitten. He turns his torso away slightly to recover from the slip, and goes back to flicking through images. Damn. Why does he feel so homesick?

He just smiles, not making a big deal of the contact or Mirages own reaction to it. " I know...eventually. We have to start with this continent apparently and it easier to just send Cosmos and Powerglide over the others for now. But there's plenty of good things to see here."

He swallows, nabbing at that to save himself. "Really? Such as?"

Hound leaned in again to scroll through to a new screen without taking the pad away from Mirage. An image of an immense canyon in the red desert popped up. "Here, I'm schedule to go here soon." His excitement is obvious; this canyon is not even that far off but he's been waiting months to be allowed to go to it.

It's not the kind of architectural wonder that was amazing him before, but it's still impressive. He smiles indulgently. The mech is showing the kind of enthusiastic eagerness a kid might, which is childish, but amusing nonetheless. "So you're a scouting unit, then?"

"Scout and tracker. So luckily I have to know my way around this planet. and you?"

"Scout and...asset." He should have used 'agent', at least, but Hound's lack of aggression is a breath of fresh air, and Mirage is finding himself dangerously lax in the need to dispel that mildness. He can deal with it soon enough, he tells himself. Hound will hate him soon enough. It can't hurt to enjoy a brief civil exchange while it's happening.
"I was not originally a scout model, however. In this operation, who can do, does, it seems..." He offers a smile. "I'm still rather learning the ropes, I guess you could say."

He would question the meaning of asset, but the word scout was more important. His face lit up. " If you're also a scout you should be going to these places to don't you think?" He forgot for a moment Mirages racing build and that the bot didn't look exactly made for off roading. "Have you gone anywhere good yet?"

"No, not really." He thinks about where he's been so far: in cities, cruising car shows, becoming familiar with how the rules of the road will effect his driving and staying under cover. His real training---coming in contact with Decepticons, to start learning whether he'll be able to ease his way into influence---hasn't begun yet. He's still waiting for clearances from Prowl and prep runs with Jazz. The lack of activity has left him buzzingly antsy. "I'm more of a speed model, so, no, not really. Most of this section of the planet seems to be off-road." He offers, faintly, in an attempt to reclaim himself: "I'm being outfitted with better tires for the terrain today. How many missions have you run?"

He looks a little sad hearing Mirage hasn't gone anywhere to speak of yet, but he's sure he'll get something better soon and offers a smile. "Surely if their outfitting you with better tires you'll be going somewhere interesting." His missions? "Twenty-seven thus far, mostly just terrain observation and base scouting and I'll go out on my own if I have the free time."

Mirage's optics sweep over Hound's sturdy limbs. Yes, he's not surprised the mech has gone out on his own. He digs for something to carry the conversation with; the talking is rare and he's enjoying it more than he should. "You seem to enjoy your work." He flicks through the datapad idly, attention now split between new images and the mech next to him. He pauses on an image of the Victoria Falls, but then moves on to a busy intersection in a city of New York. The chaos of the advertising and street signs is almost flounderingly bright. "This is such a strange planet."
He has no wonder in his voice this time, just quiet tones. Nothing like Cybertron. Nothing.
