D'nel considering T'rey's dancing eyes, his profile interesting in the early morning light. Coranth was a little longer this time, taking his fun out of it. "I can't imagine a dragon who didn't. A big boy like that? Must be spectacular."

Orsith arched his neck, preening in the compliments and T'rey laughed. "He is spectacular, in every way."
It was maybe mildly disappointing even as he was distracted by his dragon, that D'nel seemed to choose not to sit. Well it was okay really...

D'nel rocked back on his heels and forward to the balls of his feet, once, twice, a bit of that anticipatory frission of thread fall making him itchy and restless. He opened the front of his jacket, warming up here on the ground, and shook it open. Underneath, he looked narrow, and likely strong like a whip as few Riders his age during fall could afford to fall out of shape. Riding took a lot of concentration when zipping around, flaming clumps of thread.
D'nel put his hands into his pockets, glancing down at T'rey with a grin and a slight tilt to his head. Some of his long hair fell into his eyes. "Which wing are you in?"

Yeah, it was alright, he seemed antsy, only natural before a fall. T'rey was trying to act calm for Orsith's sake.
Ah, maybe that stupid mop didn't look all that bad after all. "N'skyn's, fifth wing."

D'nel nodded, familiar with the wing leader's name if not his whole unit. He was a bit more disconnected than most, flying off on long journeys and coming back, always, in time for thread fall, partially memorized schedules and partly cloud watching.
"I'm glad its not my wing that missed the clump that got you and Orsith." He lifted a hand to shade his eyes, squinting as he studied the clear sky over head. There was a bleat as Coranth caught another wherry, careful to quickly kill it mid-air to minimize suffering as he winged back over and dropped it by Orsith.

He waved a hand dismissively as Orsith snapped up his next meal. "It was just a gust, knocked it into us faster then a flame could change course. No ones fault." He absently reached up to touch the larger part of the score on his face to see if it still hurt. It did.

D'nel felt his mouth twist into a wry smile, having dropped his eyes to catch the movement, and leaned over to lightly smack at T'rey's reaching hand. "You know better," he assumed, drawing back. Coranth was taking a moment to rest, flopped over on his side in the grass with the end of his forked tail twitching back and forth like a feline's as he tilted his arrow-head to watch D'nel.

T'rey smirked when he was swatted and left the still sore cut alone. " I suppose I should know better." D'nel didn't seem to care much that one might have personal space, or perhaps he could tell that T'rey wouldn't be bothered? He liked it in fact.
Orsith's head was raised to observe Coranth curiously. He would be fine with as much as he'd had, but he did so hope he'd get another.

Coranth made a show of thinking about it, twisting his head about to consider the distant pen and the ruffled herd over his shoulder. His tail twitched, once, twice.
D'nel smiled good-naturedly, glancing over to meet Coranth's eye. The blue was being coy, and he laughed. "Stop teasing the poor thing."
Very well. Coranth shook himself up and rolled back to his feet, springing back up into the air to coast on the weyr's air currants back to the herd. "He enjoys it, the coy thing," D'nel told T'rey, grinning. "Any word on how long until Orsith can take Between?"

T'rey is smiling at the blue's behavior "It's brave of him."
Orsith barked an encouragement when Coranth finally started moving again. Back to the task of trying to direct the blue to the bird he wanted.
"If he can keep from splitting it again I think it'll just be a few more days, less than a seven we'll hope. He's already tired of sitting idle."
His foot is tapping in front of him, clearly Orsith is not the only one tired of idling.

A bronze rider forced to wait. D'nel could think of only one thing worse; trying to keep a gold and her rider from flying thread. The grin remained as he threw himself down on the grass next to T'rey, hands resting on his crossed ankles. He watched the path of Coranth's flight, swooping low as the two dragons compared notes about size and health and argued a little over this one or that one.
Coranth didn't seem all that intimidated by the bronze, but he generally let him get his way.
"That's good. Like the Weyreleaders keep saying, we need as many bodies in the air as we can get there. After this I don't think we'll have another fall until you and Orsith are back to fighting shape."

Don't be a pain, he's doing you a favor.
But I'm the one that is going to eat it, shouldn't I have the one I'd like?
His head turned to look when D'nel sat, having not expected the movement. "As long as we don't have fall to worry over he'll survive the boredom. I'll keep him full and oiled and he'll have nothing to complain about." Orsith rumbled gently. I like these idea's, the next few days will be good. at that, he chuckled.

"After this feast, I don't know when he'll want to eat again," D'nel chuckled with him, although on different topics, as Coranth stooped for the kill. It was another large one that took both of his arms to manage, and he dropped it off neatly in front of Orsith as he banked low over the other dragon from the air.
He opened his wings wide to cup the air and dropped down neatly behind D'nel and T'rey, huffing.
May I have the next one that I catch? Coranth asked, turning a large and begging eye to D'nel.
"Yes, after the fight," D'nel promised gently. Coranth swung his head down for D'nel to scratch at the underside of his jaw. "You've been very generous."

"I'm sure he'll manage to convince me he's hungry again soon, but by then he'll have to do his own hunting!"
He tipped his head to the blue dragon. " My thanks, Coranth. It was very kind of you to help us." Orsith had settled down to be more comfortable in the grass, licking his claws and rumbling his thanks to the blue.

Coranth stretched out his wings and folded them primly across his back, hind legs splayed out to one side as he settled on the grass. He rumbled in response to D'nel's caresses, and D'nel grinned.
"He says you are welcome." He gave Coranth a final cheek-pat and leaned back into the grass, studying the sky.
