"Maybe." Jack is struggling with wrestling his fitted sheet onto the mattress properly. "He might not want another duo around to take his limelight I guess."

Mac snorts. "If I had any reason to want to be a Hero, that'd be it." He reaches into another box at the foot of his bed and pulls out his small stack of Hero Monthly magazines, all featuring Blue Rose on the cover. He piles them on the bookshelf topping the desk, thinking maybe it would look good if he showed some interest in the Heroes or something.

Those were good issues of that magazine... Jack sat on his barely made bed, apparently given up on unpacking. "We'd show em a team...if we were heroes anyway."

"Which we ain't," he says, as if either of them need the reiteration.
He's on a roll with the unpacking, might as well keep going. There's not much left, anyway. Sitting on his bed, he sets his modded volleyball on a high shelf in the closet and shoves his similarly-modded surfboard up against the wall inside the closet as well. Not that he's expecting to use it much anymore, but he sure as hell wasn't about to leave it behind.

"Right." He nods, ignoring his boxes a little longer to flip open the student handbook...looking for what the dress code says about eye wear. His own board is leaning on the edge of his bead, if he can't use it while he's here he intends on at least keeping it out where he can see it.

While there's nothing in particular about eyewear in the dress code, it does say it's not an exhaustive list.
Mac plans to go through the whole thing later, to make sure they can't get in trouble for stupid obscure things, but as of right now he's gone to inspect the bathroom and leave his toothbrush and all inside.
"That say anything about using powers outside of classes?" he calls.

"Uh..hold on." He flips back to the contents, then from there to the section on power use, skimming for outside use. "ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm" skimskimskim.

Outside of classes, NEXT powers may be used only under teacher supervision in specified practice areas, or on the outside training field. Be advised that the training field is under constant video surveillance, and any student found to have caused personal injury or property damage will undergo inquiry by the judicial board of the Hero Academy and possibly the Justice Bureau. This includes damaging surveillance cameras, reads the student handbook.
NEXT powers may not, under any circumstances, be used outside of Hero Academy campus grounds. Any student found to have done so will undergo inquiry by the Justice Bureau and may face expulsion from the Hero Academy.
The sound of the shower coming on filters in from the bathroom. "Yess, sweet water pressure!" Mac exclaims gleefully, waiting for Jack to find the appropriate passage.

"Oh bullshit!" He raises his voice over the sound of the water to read the section back to Mac, dropping the handbook back onto his bed to return to his irritated unpacking.

Mac shuts the water off hastily and moves to slouch in the doorframe, watching Jack absently with a thoughtful frown on his face.
"...Well," he says eventually, stepping back over to the few boxes left at the foot of his bed, "we'll just have to be careful, won't we?"

"Yeah, not like we're not used to that. Training field'll be good to have I guess..." He's found his posters and is fishing around a box for tape, mutter to himself. "damned..plastic piece of shit..."

"Mm." Mac tears another box open, then slides it under his bed without so much as touching the contents; it's full of practice metals, small pieces of pipe painted different colors, a collection of fishing weights, some tools, and a collection of other bits and bobs. Before ripping into another one, he suddenly half-vaults over to his student handbook and starts flipping through it rapidly.

His head pops up from his junk box when Mac moves. "What happened?"

Mac pauses, reading a passage, and then slams the book down on an empty spot on his desk with a frustrated noise. "We missed breakfast, that's what happened." What a week to put off buying groceries. Their fridge had been nearly barren, nothing worth taking with them.

"Oh." He frowns but that's not as bad as he was expecting. " I think I have a poptart." He motions to a smaller box he hasn't unpacked yet. " You can have it."
