At least today he was far more clean than the last time he'd arrived back at HeroTV headquarters from a mission. Barnaby changed into his more casual workout attire in the locker room, and paused before he put his glasses back on. No, perhaps it would be better to leave those in the locker as well.
He set them on top of his folded red jacket, ran a hand over his hair to smooth down any static from changing, and headed out into the lounge, aiming for the mats.
As he approached the edge of the soft blue surface, he slipped off his sneakers, taking a seat and beginning to stretch while he waited for Tiger to wander in. He still wasn't entirely sure how he felt about this.

Kotetsu's hair was still a little damp from a quick shower, claiming that the skin-tight suits they work always left a weird feeling behind, as he walked into the exercise room. He leisurely looked around to see if any other heroes were around, taking his time to approach the mats.
As usual, Barnaby was ahead of him, already stretching out on the mats. He toes off his sneakers, the pair so beat up from use that they are one solid unidentifiable shade of grey with a green stripe somewhere in there. "Man, just watching you makes my spine hurt."

Barnaby glanced up as Kotetsu approached, shifting to draw in the leg he was stretching. "It shouldn't."
He sunk his hand into the supportive surface of the smooth blue plastic to push himself up to his feet again. "You should be stretching just as often as I do, Oji-san."
Bunny pulled an arm back over his shoulder, holding it behind his head. "Are you familiar with the differences between air chokes and blood chokes...?"

"Hey, watch it, I can bench press you when we're not glowing blue," Kotetsu warns, but its mostly in retaliation for calling him old man. He pads on to the mats, bouncing a little on his heels to get used to the spongy surface. "Ha? One cuts off blood and one cuts of air?"

Keith was present, but quite busy at that particular moment on one of the machines, so he hadn't paid the pair much mind. Yet.

"I doubt it," He mumbles, but mostly ignoring Kotetsu's retort.
"...Yes. Both will knock someone unconscious in a matter of seconds if done well. ...Its easier to cause bruising and damage tot he trachea with an air choke. You're supposed to go for the nerve here," He runs a finger down the side of his neck, "That initiates the gag reflex, as opposed to simply crushing the airway itself. ...But its often done incorrectly."
He shifts two hands to either side of his neck, brushing his pale curls aside. "Blood chokes put pressure here, on the jugular veins and carotid arteries, but don't touch the trachea or cut off air- unless whoever you're holding manages to shift out of the proper hold. That's why you have to be gentle. If you apply less pressure you can usually get someone to submit without knocking them out- they'll often lose their ability to stand and think straight."
He drops one hand, running the other back through his hair. "I'm no expert, but there are many different kinds from different positions. I'll show you the easiest one, the one I used yesterday. Others I'm not entirely comfortable with myself."

Kotetsu watches Bunny point at parts of his neck and call them names. He thinks a few are vaguely familiar from a distant highschool class he paid less-than-ideal amounts of attention too, fixated on finding ways to distract Tomoe. He makes some small noises of understanding (he halfway actually does), most of it making some sort of sense. He steps forward on the mat, then stops, because....oh what the hell.
"So what's the easiest one, then?"

"Lateral vascular. It used to be done with the wrist, but that was easier to get into the wrong position if someone was struggling."
He slowly takes a long inhale. "From behind the person you want to incapacitate, you wrap your right arm, so that their chin is in the crook of your elbow- their trachea is safe there. Your other arm reaches across behind the back of their neck, supporting their head and helping to lock it in place while pushing it forward slightly. Then you apply pressure with your right arm. If you let go immediately, your target will only pass out for a second or two, but be dazed for a moment, unable to stand. ...Any longer and they'll remain down. Too long and they'll never get back up."

Kotetsu listens with a slightly blank look in his eye that he gets sometimes when Bunny goes on too long trying to explain the Fine, Advanced Logic for the Correct Solution to the Situation. Lateral...vasular........ at least he can latch on to the word 'trachea'.
"..........So chin in the elbow," he tries to deduce, "and sort of make a sandwhich around the neck with your arms and squeeze."
That sounded a lot simpler to him to say than the rest of it.
"C'mon, I hate listening to things. Lets just do this." He points to his own neck, before he can think too hard about it. Bunny's light weight falling back; Bunny taking the grenade. Bunny can't hate him too much if he's teaching him something. Right? Did he do anything really stupid this week to Bunny that would result in death? "Show me how you do it on me first."

Barnaby steps around him cautiously. He slips his right arm over Tiger's shoulder, pulling it far over enough that the older man's beard brushed the inside of his elbow. "You can also put your other hand along your wrist, if you aren't able to get it behind their head," He presses it there lightly as an example.
"In that case just use your shoulder to support the back of the head tightly. But we'll cover that once you're used to it the other way." He slinks his comparatively rather pale left arm behind Kotetsu's head supportively, and flexes his arm a touch "You feel where the lines of my arm are? You want to press that flat line of bone into the side of the neck."

Kotetsu may occasionally open his mouth too soon, act too fast, break things, miss important clues, or run headlong into danger, but occasionally he is not a stupid man. He stands very still once Bunny slips behind him, and suddenly he's in a position of complete mercy.
Bunny could do a very large number of things faster than he could stop him.
Kotetsu, however, doesn't even think about it. He chokes a little out of surprise, but is otherwise surprisingly quiet. He's paying attention and thinking and feeling the subtle flex of Bunny's arm against the pulse in his throat.
Oh.
He reaches up to the part of the arm crossing over the vein, and presses lightly himself. Its a little harded than Bunny's flex, but he's judging it now. Feeling it. "............Hah."

"...You understand where your aiming for?" Bunny hopes that's what the little 'hah' means. He removes the arm, presses his fingers where the veins are, and slips the arm back. "Right there, right? You understand? After someone passes out, even for a moment, they'll be severely disoriented. If its brief, they may not even close their eyes, and they might twitch abnormally."

Kotetsu makes an odd face while trying to imagine such a result. His pulse is lazy under Bunny's fingers, incidental to their .... weird teaching lesson. "So basically you are going to make them wobbly and likely to fall over or hurt themselves and act weird if you do it right and don't kill them."
He still likes his summaries better.
Kotetsu stays still for most of it. He gives an experimental twist, testing how solid Bunny's hold is. Feels back experimentally with an elbow, clearly trying to feel out ways he could get out of it.

Instinctually, Bunny's left hand presses down against Kotetsu's right shoulder, the elbow under his chin pressing flat down to pull him back against his chest, making it hard to turn anything other than his head.
"If they move, make sure your elbow stays at the trachea, that' the most important part. You have a lot more leeway with a blood choke because the trachea stays safe. ...Next time warn me before you do that."
He relaxes, easing his grip. "...Do you want to feel the actual effect?"

Kotetsu chokes a little, "Okay, okay, I got it, geeze," and relaxes a little.
Shakes out his arms a little, suddenly serious business. "....Okay, alright, lets have it." He's confident it can't be that bad. He's been in worse scrapes than this. He was half-dead and a little bit of super healing, and he was back to running across rooftops only a few weeks ago. How bad could it be?
